Doug Smith, Tomi Moody
The meeting was called to order by chair Mara Graves. The minutes
of the January meeting were accepted.
The appeal of the Art Committee to install future paintings in the Bay
Club was heard. Frank Garrod moved to use museum putty to install
paintings. It was seconded and passed. Also, the paintings
will have identifying plates on them of the color of choice by the
committee.
Bar report given by Frank Garrod: The gross profit was 49% which
is under the desired percent for alcohol sales. The question of
house wines was left as it is three red wines and three white wines.
There are still wines that can be bought by the bottle.
Discussion of replacement of appliances or their
repairing was left to finding the purchasing dates to verify the need of
replacement.
Announcements:
1. One of the bar tenders has resigned.
Two have been hired and a fourth has been hired as a trainee.
2. The bar hours have been changed on
Wednesday and Friday to opening at five o’clock instead of 5:30.
3. Discussion of a service area of the bar was held. The bar has
only one service station and only one cash register. Large parties
will have to deal with it.
Old Business:
1. Discussion was held on the use of
decorations in the Bay Club. All decorations used are to be
fastened with museum putty on the walls or posts. Nothing is to be
hung from the lights or paintings.
2. The issue of “brown bagging” was
discussed. Keith Fox read the law governing this issue from the
ALCOHOL BEVERAGE CONTROL LAWS AND RULES OF NORTH CAROLINA for
residential private clubs. The actual ‘brown bagging’ means no
selling of alcohol by private parties to other private parties.
The community can make its own restrictive rules as needed.
New Business:
1. Tomi
Moody reported the carpet cleaning estimate is $850-900.
At this time, the lower level carpet should be replaced which may have
been an oversight when the upper level was carpet replaced Estimate to
replace lower level carpet is approx $3800. The upper level should
last for 10 to 15 years. Tomi will check with the finance
committee to see if restructure funds can be used for this.
2 Other areas of the Bay Club are under consideration for replacement is
wallpaper stripping at a cost estimate of $1500.
3. The marina committee is going to
refinish the screen porch area.
4. A request for two more bookshelves was
made by Dave Grahek for the
library committee. This was tabled until next month.
Kitchen
inventory will be done during the last two weeks of April.
Discussion was held about items that become missing after caterer’s use
of the kitchen. It is the responsibility of the sponsor that the
caterer functions within the rules and regulations of the Bay Club and
to check the equipment before and after the event. Missing items
should be reported to CAM as soon as possible.
Mara will write an article for the newsletter on the role of the Bay
Club Operations Committee.
Respectfully submitted,
